What is tallow?
Tallow is pure, rendered beef fat, traditionally sourced from the suet around the kidneys and loins. When carefully purified, it creates a nutrient-dense balm rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as essential fatty acids. Its structure is remarkably similar to human sebum, which makes it highly compatible with our skin’s natural barrier.
What is the shelf-life?
Beef tallow is naturally stable and has an impressive shelf life, especially when stored with care.
At Room Temperature: When stored in a cool, dark place in an airtight container, beef tallow can stay fresh for up to 3-5 months.
In the Refrigerator: Refrigeration can extend shelf life to 12–18 months, helping preserve its texture and quality.
In the Freezer: For even longer storage, freezing beef tallow can keep it fresh for 2–3 years.
How to store it?
Storage Tips:
To get the most out of your tallow, keep it away from heat, light, air, and moisture, as these factors can speed up spoilage. You can even store in the fridge to keep freshness longer.
Does it smell like beef?
No—properly rendered tallow has little to no scent. Ours is slow-rendered for purity and blended with essential oils for a light, natural fragrance. Prefer no scent at all? We also offer unscented options that are perfect for sensitive skin or those who like to keep it simple.
Does it work for acne? Does it clog pores?
Tallow is non-comedogenic (does not clog pores) when properly rendered and free of impurities. Its fatty acid balance helps regulate natural oil production, which can actually improve acne-prone skin. It provides hydration without the pore-blocking effects of synthetic creams. Many users with acne find tallow helps calm inflammation and supports healing.
Is it safe to use on kids & babies?
Yes! Tallow is incredibly gentle and safe for delicate baby skin & kids. Use it as a daily moisturizer, diaper cream, or calming balm for sensitive spots. Always patch test first, just like with any new product.
